1) Introduction

a) (a trading name of Midland Red (South) Ltd.) values your custom and will endeavour to ensure you travel safely and in comfort on a clean, reliable service.

b)  This document contains the conditions under which we carry you and applies to anyone who travels with us on our network of international services.

c)  The applicable law for these terms and conditions is English law and shall act in accordance with EU Directive No. 181/2011 dated February 16, 2011.

d)  When you book a ticket and receive a booking confirmation, transport is provided in the name of, on behalf of and on the account of FlixBus DACH GmbH under the responsibility of Midland Red (South) Ltd. (registered address Daw Bank, Stockport, SK3 0DU, United Kingdom, reg:1556310), mediated by FlixMobility GmbH, Birketweg 33, 80639 Munich, Germany and VAT ID no. DE283764680. 2) General Conditions

a)  We aim to provide a safe, reliable and punctual service but there are occasions when we are simply unable to run as advertised due to factors outside of our control including but not limited to road works, diversions, exceptional traffic congestion, major events, extreme weather conditions and other unforeseen operating circumstances.

b)  Wherever possible, we will take reasonable steps to advise you of any disruption to services but, in the event of cancellation, delay, diversion or termination of any service or for any other reasons; we shall fulfil our obligations under the EU Passenger Rights Act.

c)  We do not guarantee that services will connect unless we specifically advertise a guaranteed connection.

d)  Should any individual provision in these Conditions of Carriage be invalid, the validity of the further provisions and the provisions of the transport contract are otherwise unaffected.

e)  For your journey you are responsible for compliance with all passport, visa, foreign currency, customs and health regulations etc. and you must carry with you all documents and identification papers which are required. This includes children having any necessary parental permission to travel.  Any disadvantages resulting from non-compliance with such regulations shall be at your own expense.’s obligation to carry shall lapse if you do not have all the relevant valid travel documents.

3) Conduct of Passengers

a)   When travelling with us you must comply with our code of conduct for passengers including:

i)   Wearing a seatbelt provided on the vehicles.

ii)  Not smoking on the vehicle; this includes electronic cigarettes, nor in designated no smoking areas in any coach station.

iii)  Not behaving in a manner that is abusive, threatening or causes offence to other passengers or staff.

iv)  Not eating or drinking items which make the environment unpleasant for other passengers or otherwise cause offence.

v)  Not consuming alcohol.

vi)  Not playing loud music or operating a personal device at a volume which may be heard by other passengers.

vii)  Not leaving rubbish or discarded items on the bus.

viii)  Not be wearing soiled working clothes or carrying any soiled items which might stain the seats etc.

ix)  Not carrying deadly or dangerous weapons.

x)   Following the instructions of our staff and acting in a manner which shows due regard for the safety and comfort of other customers and company employees. This includes not standing adjacent to emergency exits, the vehicle entrance, next to the driver or sitting in gangways or on staircases.

xi)  Notifying a member of staff immediately if you sustain an injury whilst boarding, travelling on or getting off a coach.

xii)  Except in an emergency, not talking to the driver whilst the coach is moving, nor obstructing the driver’s vision or otherwise distract him/her.

xiii)  Having due regard at all times for the needs of our elderly, young and disabled customers and, in particular, vacating seats and spaces designed for the elderly and disabled when requested.

xiv)  Not distributing leaflets, papers or other articles or offer anything for sale or collect for charity without our prior written consent.

xv)  Not interfering with equipment fitted on the vehicle.

xvi) Not deliberately damaging or defacing any part of the vehicle

b)  We reserve the right to refuse you entry, or require you to leave our vehicles or premises at any time, should we have reason to believe that your behaviour jeopardises the safety, security and comfort of others. In particular, has the right to refuse to transport or to remove any customer for the following reasons:

i)  Whenever such action is necessary to comply with any government regulation, security directive, or any governmental request for emergency transportation in connection with national defence.

ii)  Whenever such action is necessary or advisable by reason of weather or other conditions beyond control including, but not limited to, acts of God, force majeure, strikes, civil commotions, embargoes, wars, hostilities, terrorist activities, or disturbances, whether actual, threatened, or reported.

iii)  Whenever refusal or removal of a customer may be necessary for the safety of such customer or other customers or drivers, including, but not limited to:

(1)   Persons whose conduct is disorderly, offensive, abusive, or violent;

(2)   Persons who fail to comply with or interfere with the duties of driver;

(3)   Persons who wear or have on or about their person concealed or unconcealed deadly or dangerous weapons;

(4)   Persons with a communicable disease or infection known or reasonably believed by to pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others.

c)  If you are in breach of these and other statutory regulations you will be obliged to give your name and address to a Company Official or may be restrained or removed from the bus or our premises by a Company Official, a police officer or other authorised persons and refused further travel without refund.

d)  We also reserve the right to take any other measures we consider necessary to protect the safety and comfort of our customers and staff including temporarily or permanently banning you from travelling with us following an incident of misconduct.

e)  Buses and premises may be fitted with CCTV to provide added security for our customers and staff. Appropriate signage will be in place where CCTV is in use. The video is used solely for the monitoring of safety, security, service quality and in support of relevant criminal and civil legal proceedings and complaint investigation. Images of you may be provided to the police, or any other enforcement agency at their reasonable request.

f)  Whilst we will do everything we reasonably can to control conduct of other customers, we cannot be held responsible for their conduct.

4) Getting on and off the coach

a)  You are entitled to travel with so long as you have purchased the correct ticket in advance and abide by these Conditions of Carriage.

b)  Vehicles will pick up and set down passengers at the specified stops.

c)  You must not attempt to board or alight from a moving vehicle or a vehicle which is stationary at a point which is not a designated coach stop such as traffic lights and road works etc.

d)  You must not use the emergency exits on any vehicle except in a genuine emergency.

e)  You should arrive at your departure point 30 minutes before the scheduled departure of the bus (or 60 minutes if your international journey starts at Victoria Coach Station). This will allow you time to board and prevent any delays to the service.

f)  If you are not at the departure point at the time the journey you are booked on is due to depart your entitlement to travel will lapse.

g)  Whenever you board a vehicle you must present a valid booking reference number. This acts as the ticket for your journey and must be presented to the driver before boarding the coach. Keep it available during your journey also as you may also be required to present it during your journey. This may be presented verbally, in written, printed or SMS format.

h)  NUS Extra card holders must show their card with their booking reference when boarding the bus. If you are unable to show your card, you may have to pay a £40/ €40 Penalty Fare.

i)  You are liable to prosecution and paying an increased fare if you do not hold a valid ticket, pass or other relevant documentation. The increased fare shall be twice the usual fare for the distance travelled by the passenger, but at least £40/ €40, plus the fare for the remaining route to the destination travelled by the passenger. If the passenger cannot verify what distance he has travelled, then the starting point of the route is used for the calculation of the increased fare.

j)  If we have reason to suspect fraudulent use of booking references, transfer to another person, or other abuse, we reserve the right to refuse you travel on our service(s). No refund will be given in relation to fraudulent use of booking references.

5) Carriage of Wheelchairs, Mobility Scooters, Small Prams and Buggies

a)  We welcome all customers on services and do our best to assist those with walking difficulties or those who normally use wheelchairs.

b)  If you normally use a wheelchair or scooter and are able to climb the few steps into the bus, we will store your wheelchair or scooter in the luggage bay and the driver will help you into your seat. In order that we can assess if a mobility aid can be carried you should let us know the precise details at least 24 hours in advance of your journey.

c)  Most of our coaches are designed to carry passengers safely in wheelchairs which meet certain dimensions.  If you wish to use a wheelchair while travelling with us you must contact us 48 hours in advance to make sure that your wheelchair is suitable and to book the designated wheelchair space. Details on how to do this are available on the web site and in section 10 of these terms and conditions.

d)  If you are disabled and require a companion to travel with you (normally shown through having the relevant proof of degree of disability card) your companion may travel free of charge, but you must tell us when you book your place.

6) Luggage

a)  In the interests of the safety and comfort of all our passengers, we restrict the size, type and quantity of luggage or other belongings which you can bring onto our vehicle and reserve the right to refuse permission for you to bring any item onto our service. does not check luggage or provide receipts for luggage transported on the bus by the passenger.

b)  You must label every piece of your luggage including your name, address and contact details.

c)  Your luggage should weigh no more than 20kg and be no bigger than a standard ‘large’ suitcase. The maximum size of a single bag is 200cm (width + height + depth) and you may take two or three bags so long as they do not occupy more space than a single bag of these weight or dimensions. You can also take a piece of small hand luggage on board with you. This must either fit on your lap or under the seat in front of you.

d)  If you bring more luggage, you may have items refused. Frozen food and fresh meat, poultry or fish, accumulators, explosives, ammunition, weapons and combustible or otherwise hazardous materials including petrol are not permitted on any service. If you wish to carry large items of luggage such as baby buggies, or items that exceed the maximum dimensions, you must contact us 48 hours in advance and gain confirmed acceptance that we can carry the item.

e)  Only the driver may store or remove luggage from the lockers or trailer.

f)   We cannot be held responsible for any loss or inconvenience to you if you are refused travel if you fail to comply with any of the rules on the carriage of luggage. We reserve the right to request that you open any article of luggage for inspection by the driver or other Company Official in your presence if, for reasons of security, it is considered necessary to do so.

g)  Certain items of luggage may have to be placed in the luggage lockers beneath the passenger saloon which are accessed by external locker doors. Please note that high cost items or those which are of particular personal value should be kept on your person at all times. Items that should never be placed in the luggage hold will include currency, valuable securities such as cheques, premium bonds or money orders, passports, driving licenses, certificates, jewellery, portable electronic devices such as cameras, mobile telephones, laptops and tablets.

h)  Please note that cannot be held liable for the loss of any items if left unattended, except in the case of intent or gross negligence.

i)   Luggage brought on board must be stored and supervised on board so that it does not impact on the safety of any passenger. It should be placed in the luggage rack or pushed under the seat in front of you.

j) is not liable for any hand luggage, except in the cases of intent or gross negligence.

k)  Fragile items such as electronic goods, portable televisions, computers, radios etc will only be carried if they are of reasonable size and securely packed. We will not be responsible for damage to such items however caused.

l)   Paint may only be carried in original and properly sealed containers of 5 litres or less.

7) Carriage of Bicycles

a)  Bicycles may be carried at the owner’s risk on coaches, when space is available. This will be as part of your luggage allowance and will be counted as a large bag. If you wish to take a bicycle you should contact us in advance to gain confirmation to carry.

b)  Folding bicycles, safely and securely stowed in the designated luggage area in a suitable bag or box, may be carried on all vehicles.

8) Animals

Dogs and other animals are not permitted on any services, with the exception of assistance animals (e.g. guide dogs). It is your responsibility to obtain all necessary permissions, such as pet passports for your assistance animal.

9) Lost Property

a)  We advise that you insure your luggage, especially if you are carrying valuable items, with reputable insurers against all usual and normal risks of loss or damage, to the full replacement value of the luggage, with no excess.

b) will not be liable for any monetary loss or the loss of legal documents. This includes currency, valuable securities such as cheques, premium bonds, money orders, certificates, passports or driving licences.  Items of significant value such as jewellery and portable electronic devices should be kept on your persons at all times. cannot be held liable for these items left unattended.

c)   Loss of luggage or personal property must be notified immediately to a employee.

d)   We will do all that we reasonably can to locate and return any property left on our premises or on one of our vehicles to its owner. If lost property is not claimed within one month, we will become the owner of the property and dispose of it appropriately.

e)   If you find lost property on a vehicle, you must hand it to the driver.

f)   If the lost property is perishable and is not claimed within 48 hours of being found, we will dispose of it as we think fit. If perishable property is, or becomes, objectionable or a health risk before the end of the 48 hour period, we reserve the right to destroy or dispose of it at any time.

g)  If the lost property is contained in a package, bag or other container, we may open it and examine it in order to trace the owner or identify the nature and value of the lost property.

h)  Details of how to reclaim lost property, including, information on the cost of calls, can be found at If you claim any item of lost property, you will be required to satisfy us that the item belongs to you and give us your name and address.

i)   Under normal circumstances, you will need to collect the lost property from the office or depot at which the lost property is being stored. You will need to pay the cost of postage and packaging in advance if we agree to post the property back to you.

10) Fares and Ticketing

a)  You must be aged 18 years, or older, to purchase tickets and services from this website. No discount is given for children.

b)  You can book journeys either through the web site, or else through phoning Customer service on +44 900 1600 900. Information on the cost of calls can be found at Note that the call will be answered in English.

c)   If you have a disability and need to make special arrangements to book a space for your wheelchair, or a place for a companion to assist in your travel please call our Contact Centre on +44 141332 9644 (calls are answered in English). Further information including details of the cost of calls is available through the web site

d)  When booking your journey, you must check your journey itinerary before making payment. No refunds will be given for incorrect or duplicated journeys. Once completed, reservations cannot be cancelled or refunded other than in accordance with the provisions of these Conditions of Carriage.

e)  All prices are shown in Sterling (£) on our English web site and in Euro (€) on other language web sites. Fares will vary by reservation date, day of travel and demand for seats. £1/ €1 fares are limited. Fares are subject to change without notice.

f) will offer its best prices to those who make reservations early or choose less popular trips. However, all trips will remain competitively priced offering excellent value for your money.

g)  A single reservation fee of 50p/50c is charged for each transaction. This fee is charged to cover bank and administration charges related to your reservation. Multiple journeys can be booked in one transaction.

h)  You may choose to have your reservation number sent to your mobile phone as a SMS text message. Text messages are charged at 10p/10c per message/ reservation.

i)   You can amend your booking up to 24 hours before the departure of the first service in your booking. You will need to pay the difference between the price paid and the next available price for your journey. If the new journey is cheaper, there will be no refund of the difference.

j)   For changes to an existing reservation a £1/ €1 fee (50p/50c amendment and 50p/50c booking fee) will apply for each booking changed.

k)  If you purchase more than one ticket for the same journey you will only be able to amend the group of tickets and you will not be able to amend the tickets individually.

l)  Stagecoach Group and affiliated company passes are not valid for travel on services.

11) Children and Young People

a)  All children no matter what age must book a place to travel on

b)  Infants and small children can only be transported if they are in a suitable infant carrier/ child seat that must be secured with the seat belts fitted in the bus. Children under the age of 12 or with a height below 150 cm need a suitable booster seat. does not provide any infant carriers / child seats or booster seats. These must be provided by the passenger accompanying the child.

c)  Children aged 15 years, or under, must travel with a passenger aged 18 years or older.

d)  Young people aged 16 or 17 years may travel without an adult only if a person with parental authority has confirmed in writing to that the minor is able and equipped to make the journey in question alone and without supervision.

e) expressly assumes no duty of supervision in relation to the young people. Young people under 18 travelling alone must not book journeys involving a change of vehicle or overnight travel.

12) Liability and Limitations of Liability

a)  You are entitled to compensation in the event of death (including appropriate funeral costs) or bodily injury, as well as in the event of loss or damage of luggage caused by accidents resulting from the use of the coach in accordance with applicable national law. If a passenger dies, this right also applies to the payment of compensation to the passenger’s legal dependents.

b)  The amount of compensation in the event of death or bodily injury shall be limited to € 220,000 per passenger, and in the event of loss of or damage to luggage due to an accident to € 1,200 for each item of luggage.

c)  Compensation in the case of damage to wheelchairs and other mobility aids or ancillary equipment shall correspond at least to the replacement value or repair costs of the lost or damaged equipment.

d)  All limitations of liability do not apply in the case of intent or gross negligence.

e)  In other respects, contractual liability, irrespective of the legal grounds, shall be limited to - at the time of the conclusion of the contract - foreseeable damage or loss typical of such contracts. This limitation does not apply in the case of intent or gross negligence.
