megabus.com helps keep Britain moving during festive period

Coach provider megabus.com plans to keep passengers connected this Christmas by running coach services throughout the festive season across the UK.

The company – which offers fares from £1* - will operate services every single day during the whole festive period, helping people travel across the country to enjoy seasonal festivities when other modes of transport are not running.

megabus.com has opened its booking window earlier than ever this year, allowing people to plan their festive journeys even further in advance as tickets are available now on www.megabus.com

The low-cost coach operator will provide more than 1000 seats on its services on Christmas Day, operating a record 3,500miles and serving 28 locations across Scotland, England and Wales.

These include London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Heathrow Airport, Bath, Preston, Cardiff, Gatwick Airport , Birmingham, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle, Sunderland, Chippenham, Middlesbrough, Coventry, Leicester, Loughborough, Manchester Airport, Nottingham, Saltford, Bristol, Swindon, Corsham, Milton Keynes and Rugby.

With rail services on a Christmas break, customers looking to travel by public transport across the country on 25 and 26 December can turn to the many megabus.com coach services running throughout the entire festive period, including to Heathrow Airport which will not be served by any rail links on Christmas Day.

On all other days throughout Christmas and New Year, including New Year’s Day, megabus.com will operate a near-normal service on most routes across the UK, with only some minor changes to timetables.

Passengers are, however, advised to double check the times of their specific journeys as there may be slight changes to some routes or timetables compared to other times of the year.

In the lead-up to Christmas, megabus.com services will also provide links to some of the UK’s most popular Christmas markets including those in Cardiff, Birmingham, Bath, Leeds and Manchester.

On New Year’s Eve, megabus.com will again operate special services departing London after the New Year celebrations and will provide links to Swindon, Bristol, Newport, Cardiff, Cwmbran, Norwich, Milton Keynes, Rugby, Coventry, Birmingham, Manchester, Leicester, Loughborough, Nottingham, Sheffield, Leeds, Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Newcastle.

megabus.com Managing Director Mark Venables said: “The festive period is a busy time of year for many people and we’re glad to be able to help by providing important transport links every single day during Christmas and New Year, including times when no train services are running

“We are selling tickets even earlier this year to make sure our customers can plan their journeys home from Christmas in advance and get the best possible deal. We hope our services will make it easier for people to visit family and friends and to enjoy the festivities.”
