  • Nine new coaches worth £3million
  • Coaches built in the UK
  • New vehicles have a toilet, air conditioning and USB ports

The company – part of international transport group Stagecoach – has introduced nine new Paxton Elite i vehicles to its fleet based in Cwmbran, South Wales.

The new coaches will once more bear the well known blue and yellow megabus.com livery, featuring mascot Sid on the side together with free WiFi, a toilet and USB charging points. Each coach has 74 seats and is wheelchair accessible.

The British made Plaxton Elite i vehicles were built in Scarborough, England and offer passengers the latest in modern, comfortable, great value travel.

The coaches will replace the existing fleet based at Cwmbran but will be used on routes travelling across Wales, the West of England and London, connecting cities like Cardiff, Bristol and London.

As part of celebrations to launch the new coaches into service, megabus.com is launching a competition on social media to name the new vehicles.

From today, members of the public are invited to go online to the company’s Facebook page megabus.comUK or on to Twitter using the handle @megabusuk and #givemeaname to suggest a name for one of the coaches that will be used on the megabus.com network across Wales, the West of England and into London.

Tickets for all journeys are now available at www.megabus.com, with fares from £1*.

Operations Director for megabus.com Tony Simmons said: “We’re delighted to be introducing these bright new vehicles into service. They will help to bring quality and reliability to our millions of passengers every year. Not only are the new additions a great comfortable transport option but they help to ensure that we are operating a fleet that is environmentally sustainable and safe.

“These new vehicles will offer the best possible service and value for money for our passengers, who can sit back and relax during their journey.

“We continuously strive to update and upgrade our fleet so that customers can benefit from the very best, spacious and modern vehicles available and it will be great to see these new coaches travelling between Wales, the West of England and London.”
