Coronavirus safety information

megabus Coronavirus safety information

Our enhanced safety measures are there to help keep you and our people safe on board. We’d ask that you read these in detail before you travel and thank you in advance for helping us keep all our passengers and people safe.

What we've put in place

To protect you and our people

  • Customers are being asked to follow the latest government guidelines. For England, please see gov.uk for EnglandFor Scotland, please see the Scottish government website, For Wales, please see the Welsh government website
  • We're able to safely make more seats available on our services in England, Wales and services to and from Scotland, so you're now able to sit next to each other. But we'd still encourage customers to keep their distance where possible.
  • Customers are legally required to wear face coverings on journeys which start and/or finish in Scotland and in Wales. Any customers who are on journeys which start or finish in London will be required to wear a face covering whilst on Transport for London property (including Victoria Coach Station) and whilst the coach remains within the London Transport boundaries. This is to ensure we're complying with the TfL policies. You're not required to wear a face covering if you're travelling within England, however we'd recommend you continue to wear one.
  • All drivers will be provided with PPE.
  • Anti-bac stations on board all our coaches.
  • Please keep to your own seat and only use the toilet if necessary.
  • All customer service desks have an increased cleaning program in place as well as screens between customers and staff.

Keeping it clean

  • Enhanced cleaning regimes are in place on our coaches, coach stations and customer service desks.
  • We’ve increased our cleaning regime and filter changing schedules for our air conditioning units and use a HVAC filter which is 99.9%* effective against Covid-19.
  • Customer touch points will all be cleaned regularly throughout the day.
  • Anti-bac stations have been installed at both the front and middle of every coach. If you're travelling in Scotland, you'll find your anti-bac station at the front of the coach.

What we’re asking you to do to help us

  • Remember not to travel if you feel unwell.
  • Make sure you’re following the driver’s instructions at all times – they’re there to help keep you safe.
  • We'd encourage customers to keep their distance where possible. Please arrive at the stop no more than 20 minutes in advance of your journey time.
  • We'd recommend customers take a lateral flow test to ensure they're safe to travel.
  • Clearly label your luggage with your destination to help with loading and unloading.
  • Where you can, wash your hands before travelling.
  • Please keep to your own seat and only use the toilet if necessary.
  • Anti-bac stations are on every coach, though carrying your own is also recommended.
  • Please be patient with us. With our enhanced safety measure, you may find it takes us a little longer to get you on and off the coach.

Information for passengers requiring assistance

To avoid disappointment, we recommend that all wheelchair users contact us before purchasing their tickets (preferably at least 36 hours before their intended journey) to book their wheelchair space and to allow us time to make your journey as comfortable as possible. Plus you’ll be able to tell us whether a personal care attendant (PCA) will be with you on board. Find out more here.
