Foodies will love this Easter-themed edition of Mangia! Mangia! Supper Club, which is a regular event in Birmingham. Guests at this intimate dinner in the Jewellery Quarter will be served a traditional four-course Italian Easter meal and given an Angello Pasquale – a hand-painted marzipan lamb, which is a traditional Sicilian delicacy – to take home. Spaces are limited, so book early.

What: The Passion of Jesus
Where: Trafalgar Square, London
When: Good Friday
Thousands of visitors fill London’s Trafalgar Square every year on Good Friday to watch the Wintershall players’ re-enactment of Jesus’ crucifixion, The Passion of Jesus. Around 100 actors are involved in the outdoor production, which runs for 90 minutes at midday and 3:15. It’s free, and it’ll be shown on big screens during the event – just get here early if you want to bag a good spot.

When: Easter Sunday
Just outside the city centre, GRUB Manchester is well worth a visit over the bank holiday weekend. There’s a street food fair every Friday and Saturday, and on Easter Sunday you can get stuck in to a bottomless board game brunch. It’s hosted by Dungeons and Flagons and you get four hours to play whatever you fancy from the library of 200-plus games, as well as 90 minutes of bottomless drinks.

Fancy getting arty this Easter? Wander through the University of Bristol’s Botanic Garden over the Easter bank holiday weekend and as well as taking in various sculptures hidden in the greenery, you can have a go at making some yourself. During the Easter Sculpture Festival you can try everything from pottery and willow weaving to stone carving and woodturning, and there’ll be experts on-hand to show you the ropes.

If you’re looking for a family-friendly event, you’ve found it. Blenheim Palace’s Easter Eggstravaganza runs across the bank holiday weekend with activities like balloon modelling, bungee trampolines and circus skills on offer for little ones. There’s also a huge Easter egg hunt around the leafy grounds of the palace, and the Easter bunny himself is set to make an appearance.

Looking for something a bit different? Get yourself down to Cardiff’s Ice Arena Wales this April for an Easter ice-skating crash course. There are sessions for all levels of skaters, whether you’re Bambi on ice or a total pro. Every day you’ll get a 30-minute skate lesson followed by a public skate to test out the skills you’ve learned, and skate hire is included in the course price.
