The top places for breakfast close to London Victoria station

Whether you’re a fan of a full English fry-up, a proper bowl of porridge or a coffee and a croissant, there’s no denying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And when it comes to places to sit down to eat it, London has no shortage of options. If you’ve booked a trip to the UK capital with megabus – you’ll arrive into Victoria Coach Station. So, to save you the bother of working out where to go for breakfast, we’ve rounded up four great options that are within walking distance, or a quick Tube ride away. You’ll be there before you can say ‘I’ll have mine with a runny yolk’…

The Regency Café: the classic caff

The Regency Café is a proper old-fashioned caff, complete with Formica tables, gingham curtains and huge plates of satisfying food. The art deco-style café opened in 1946 and the menu has barely changed since – you can still enjoy a full English with toast and a mug of builders’ tea and it won’t cost you a fortune.

The café is has appeared in films like Layer Cake, with Daniel Craig, and the 2010 remake of Brighton Rock. Get here early for breakfast and find a spot under one of the fading photos of Spurs players.

Find it at 17-19 Regency Street, London SW1P 4BY. You can walk here in less than 15 minutes from London Victoria Coach Station.

Café Bella Maria: the cosy café

Hidden away behind Buckingham Palace, Café Bella Maria is a cute and quirky tearoom serving up the best of British. Tuck in to a fry-up or stick with simple toast and jam, but make sure you wash it down with a piping hot pot of English Breakfast or Earl Grey tea.

The place has a vintage retro feel – think mismatched cups and saucers, and floral cushions – and the service is warm and friendly. The café’s social media feeds are full of fans promising to return next time they’re in London to visit the Queen.

Find it at 4 Lower Grosvenor Place, London SW1W 0EJ. You can walk here in less than five minutes from London Victoria Coach Station.

Giraffe: the family favourite

If you need somewhere for you and the kids to enjoy the most important meal of the day, the local branch of Giraffe is a must. You can keep it healthy if you like, with something like avocado on toast, while they fill up on porridge or a mini cooked breakfast. The prices are reasonable, too.

You can book a table in advance – handy if you’re travelling with a bulky buggy – and the wide range of coffees should give you a much-needed boost before you head off to explore the capital.

Find it at 120 Wilton Road, Victoria, London SW1V 1JZ. You can walk here in about five minutes from London Victoria Coach Station.

Attendant: the Instagram-worthy one

Ok, so drinking lattés in a toilet might not have instant appeal, but the short Tube trip to Attendant is worth it – trust us. This tiny coffee shop is housed in a former Victorian toilet, now carefully restored and transformed into a unique space for breakfast.

Sip your espresso nestled between the original porcelain urinals, or munch your way through breakfast muffins while deciding which Instagram filter does this surprising coffee bar justice. It really is sparklingly clean, we promise.

Find it at 27A Foley Street, London W1W 6DY. Just hop on the Victoria line to Oxford Street station, then it’s a five-minute walk.
