Please check your booking very carefully before completing your transaction, as we don’t give any refunds for bookings after you’ve paid for them.

You can make changes to your booking by paying an amendment fee anytime at least 24 hours before you’re due to travel. We do not allow amendments less than 24 hours before departure. Changes can be made online or with an authorised megabus agent. The amendment fee at an authorised megabus agent may be different to the amendment fee charged online.
If your new journey is more expensive than the original one, you’ll also need to pay the difference between the two fares.

Unfortunately we cannot give you a refund or credit if the new journey is less expensive than the original one.

You can change trip now, or find out more in our bookings FAQ.

We know plans can change. So if you want to make any changes to your bookings, you can do this up to 24 hours before you’re due to travel.

Here’s what you need to do:

1. Go to Change trip now (or use the menu link at the top of this page)
2. Enter your order or reservation number and your email address
3. Select the booking you’d like to change and click Change selected tickets
4. Follow the instructions to change your booking

Multiple traveller bookings

If your booking is for 2 or more people, any changes you make will cancel the original booking for all travellers.
So please remember to include the new journey details for all travellers when making your changes, even those that still want to travel on the same journey as originally booked.
Top tip - instead of changing the entire booking for all travellers, it may actually be cheaper if you only book a new trip for the people who need to travel at a different date or time.

What will it cost?

It costs £3.75 to change a booking online (£2.25 amendment fee and £1.50 re-booking fee). Changes made with an authorised megabus agency will cost £5.35 (£3.85 amendment fee and £1.50 re-booking fee).
If your new journey is more expensive than the original one, you’ll also need to pay the difference between the two fares.
Unfortunately we can’t give you a refund or credit if the new journey has gone down in price. Any credit not used prior to checkout will be lost

Just like seats on a plane, all seats on megabus are sold on a reservation basis - so you must travel at your specified time and date. For journeys within the UK, customers need to be at their departure point at least 15 minutes before their journey is due to depart. No refunds or credits will be given if you miss the coach. But if your plans change more than 24 hours above you’re due to travel – you can amend your ticket with us online.

If you missed your departure and you still wish to travel, you’ll need to book another journey. So you can either book again on our website, or by calling our sales line on +44 (0) 900 160 0900. This service is operated by Journey call Ltd. Calls cost 65p per minute network access and call charges may apply. Please check with your telecoms provider.

At some locations, (London Victoria Coach Station for example), you may be able to pay for a walk-up fare on the day of travel from a member of megabus staff – or use the self-service kiosk.

At the time of booking your trip, make sure you’ve given us a valid email address so we can send your booking confirmation. If you don’t receive one within an hour of making your booking, please email us at [email protected] and we’ll look into this for you. Our inbox tends to get quite busy, so if you can – make sure you contact us as early as you can so we can reissue your ticket to you.

We may need to check that your luggage complies with the dimensions and weights listed below. Please mark your luggage clearly with your name and destination. We aren't able to provide receipts for any transported luggage.

We don’t mind what your luggage is packed in, we only ask that it weighs no more than 23kg. It can’t be any bigger than a standard ‘large’ suitcase (75cm x 50cm x 32cm) or 2 medium suitcases (70cm x 45cm x 30cm each with a maximum combined weight of 23kg).  If you arrive for your journey with more luggage than as detailed above - you may have items refused

You can also take a piece of small soft hand luggage on board with you (45cm x 35cm x 20cm). It must either fit on your lap, in the overhead space or under the seat in front of you.

Remember that the luggage limit is per ticket so a secondary ticket would double your entitlement, otherwise you may be charged £10 per piece of excess luggage. This fee may vary depending on the route and time of travel. Also excess luggage is only offered in London, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Excess luggage is subject to availability and is not guaranteed, unlike having an additional ticket.

Passengers travelling on megatrain services are able to bring up to two pieces per passenger.

megabus offers a ticketless service. After completing your payment, a booking confirmation page will display your megabus booking number(s). Your booking number can also be found on your booking confirmation email, which will be sent to the email address you gave to us when you booked. You’ll also get a text message if you asked for one at the time of booking.

You should make a note of your booking number(s) for travelling, and we recommend that you print, or keep a copy on your phone so you’ve got your booking number to hand on the day.

Sure. You can bring cold food, cold drinks and hot drinks that have a lid on. For safety reasons, we can’t allow hot food on our coaches.
