megabus.com does not check luggage or provide receipts for luggage transported on the bus by passengers.
We don’t mind what your luggage is packed in, and we only ask that it weighs no more than 20kg and is no bigger than a standard ‘large’ suitcase. The maximum size of a single bag is 200cm (width + height + depth).
Alternatively, you can take two or three bags, provided they don’t occupy more space than a single bag of these dimensions or exceed the maximum weight limit of 20kg once the luggage is combined.
You can also take a piece of small hand luggage on board with you, and it must either fit on your lap or under the seat in front of you. If you arrive for your journey with more luggage than one standard sized suitcase and one small piece of hand luggage, as detailed above, you may have items refused.
You may be charged £10 per piece of excess baggage. Fee may vary depending on the route and time of travel.
Passengers travelling on megatrain.com services are able to bring up to two pieces per passenger.
You can’t bring any articles or substances on board our services that could pose a risk to health, safety, property or the environment. These include, but aren’t limited to, firearms, explosives, frozen food, live animals – except for guide dogs, hearing dogs or helping dogs – gas cylinders, flammable liquids and solids, poisons, radioactive materials, raw meat products, infectious substances such as bacteria and viruses, corrosives such as mercury, acids, alkalis, and wet-cell batteries. If in any doubt, please contact our Customer Services team before you travel.
Normal adult bicycles are unlikely to meet our luggage requirements and cannot be carried on our coaches.
Folding or small children's bicycles can be carried on our coaches providing they meet our luggage requirements at the owner's risk and will count towards your luggage allowance. They must be securely stowed in a bag or box in the designated luggage area (the hold).
You can bring your bike on board for free, but we only have space for 2 at a time. It’s a good idea to reserve a spot.
As they’re very popular, cycle reservations are required on services to and from London. It's free to reserve a cycle space. Please call our Customer Services team on +44 (0) 3457 125 678, it is advised to book your cycle reservations as early as possible; reservations can be made online using our Cycle Reservation form.
Folding cycles can be carried on any megatrain.com service as hand luggage, provided they remain folded for the duration of the journey.
You may be able to bring your skis/snowboards provided they are in suitable protective packaging and meet the requirements of our luggage policy* (size and weight). We do not have any special rack for carrying skis/snowboards and they will be carried in the hold of the coach and they will count towards your luggage allowance.
If we agree to carry skis/snowboards on any one journey it does not mean that we will be able to carry it on your subsequent journeys.
We purchase insurance in accordance with our legal responsibility. All legal liabilities to third parties, which includes damage to property and personal injury, are covered. There is no insurance cover provided for loss, damage or injury where the carrier providing your service has not been negligent. Our maximum liability to you for any loss or damage to your luggage, on megabus.com services under any and all circumstances, is limited to £500 for all such loss or damage.
If your luggage has been damaged as a result of negligence on the part of megabus.com please contact our customer services in the first instance. Insurance is purchased by the carrier in accordance with our legal responsibility. All legal liabilities to third parties, to include damage to property and personal injury, are covered. There is no insurance cover provided for loss, damage or injury where the carrier providing your service has not been negligent. Our maximum liability to you for any loss or damage to your luggage, on megabus.com services under any and all circumstances, is limited to £500 for all such loss or damage.
